A relatively new player in the career education market, the International Baccalaureate (IB), is attracting attention at a time when more young adults are beginning to doubt the need and worth of four-year college degrees.
A route to career and vocational success is paved by the IB's Career-related Programme (CP), which gives high school students the opportunity to combine academic study with specialised experiences and courses from a range of technology businesses, schools of art, and other businesses.

The three educational components of the CP are career-related studies, the CP core, and courses from the IB Diploma Program.
Science, maths, literature and language studies, language acquisition, people and societies, and the arts are the six subject groups in which students must finish at least a pair of DP courses and the related written exams that are graded by IB examiners.
The CP core connects DP courses to professional goals by fusing academic knowledge with real-world skills. It is composed of four parts:
Professional and Personal Skills (PPS):
The development of critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities—all crucial for both professional and personal success—is the main goal of this component.
Service Learning (SL):
Students participate in worthwhile service projects that foster an understanding of social duty and relate their coursework to current events.
Language Development (LD):

Reflective Project (RP):
This comprehensive, student-led project promotes analytical thinking and practice of reflection by enabling students to investigate a particular subject within their area of interest.
Because it offers students a non-traditional way to pursue their career interests, the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP), an IB certification program, is becoming more and more popular among students worldwide.
In order to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for college and the workforce, the course structure combines academic study, career-related learning, and hands-on experience.

Career-related studies (CRS)

IB CP Core

Reflective projects are 3000-word essays that highlight the student's knowledge, experience, and comprehension of the chosen career-related field of study.
Students will talk about ethics, explain the technical details and real-world applications, and use independent research to give a problem a wider context in this exploratory essay.
Language Development: This component aims to improve students' ability to communicate as well as their comprehension of society and culture. This is a crucial component in developing the student's global perspective.

According to a recent study, young people from the same six nations showed a lesser extent of global mindedness than CP students.
Moreover, a study that looked at the experiences, postsecondary goals, and results of CP students revealed that they have better functional skills like language, IT, time management, organisation, research, and industry-specific job skills.
According to the study, over 77% of respondents said they felt they had acquired the skills necessary to advance to higher education. Eighty-one percent of CP graduates in the US enrol in college, according to another study.
79% of them enrol in four-year schools, and over half of them attend one of the "very competitive" or higher-ranked universities according to Barron's Selectivity Index.
Recent studies in the UK reveal that 70% of CP graduates earn a first- or upper-second-class honours degree, and nearly 90% continue on to their second year of study.
In 2020, a study that involved curriculum content configuring of CP and DP papers showed that the current intended curricula effectively incorporate employability skills like critical thinking, communication, ethics, and mindfulness in addition to helping students acquire the skills they need to succeed in college.
